Gibt es den gerechten Tyrann*innenmord? Einen vertretbar bewaffneten Widerstand? Einen ethischen Terrorismus? Und ab wann greifen Zivilist*innen zur Waffe? Mit vorsichtiger Skepsis und zweifelhafter Bewunderung verfolgt die Costa Compagnie den Weg von Monika Ertl. Die Tochter des Riefenstahl-Kameramanns stößt Ende der 60er zur Bolivianischen Befreiungsarmee ELN und verübt ein Attentat auf den Offizier, der Che Guevara und dessen Nachfolger exekutieren ließ, um daraufhin den für das bolivianische Militär tätigen Nazi-Kriegsverbrecher Klaus Barbie entführen zu wollen.
Die Künstler*innen filmten in den bayrischen Alpen, in Paris und Lyon, in La Paz und den Anden und sprachen mit den berühmten Nazi-Jäger*innen Serge und Beate Klarsfeld, sowie Überlebenden von Folter der Militärdiktatur Boliviens. Mit dem gesammelten Material kämpfen sich Schauspielerin Karin Enzler (Schweiz/Deutschland), Punkmusikerin Stéphanie Morin (Frankreich) und Choreographin Maque Pereyra (Bolivien) in drei filmisch-performativen Solos durch die Geschichte bis zur Gegenwart.

Is there such a thing as justified tyrannicide? Justifiable armed resistance? Ethical terrorism? And when do civilians resort to arms? With cautious scepticism and dubious admiration, Costa Compagnie follows the path of Monika Ertl. The daughter of Riefenstahl’s cameraman joins the Bolivian Liberation Army ELN in the late 1960s and assassinates the officer who had Che Guevara and his successor executed, then attempts to kidnap Nazi war criminal Klaus Barbie, who was working for the Bolivian military.
The artists filmed in the Bavarian Alps, Paris, Lyon, La Paz and the Andes, and spoke with the famous Nazi hunters Serge and Beate Klarsfeld, as well as survivors of torture under Bolivia’s military dictatorship. With the material they collected, actress Karin Enzler (Switzerland/Germany), punk musician Stéphanie Morin (France) and choreographer Maque Pereyra (Bolivia) fight their way through history to the present in three cinematic-performative solos.
